What we do:
Itik Ku Productions is a UK based performing arts company that creates and promotes cultural and creative programmes in Europe and Southeast Asia. The main areas of work we undertake are:
International Productions –
Developing, organising, programmes, tours and performances of creative and cultural products, particularly throughout Southeast Asia and Europe to develop international links where intercultural collaborations and developments are key.
Research –
Qualitative and quantitative research on participation, social, economic and education benefits of cultural programmes. Developing robust new models for measuring the economic, social, educational and health benefits of creative activities.
Project Management –
Planning and delivering internationally important and innovative creative sector projects on behalf of a range of Government, Private Sector and Social Enterprise bodies.
Training –
Delivering both practical and theoretical programmes in cultural and creative practice, developing and delivering under and postgraduate programmes in collaboration with HE Institutions. Planning and delivering courses and programmes for professionals involved
in the creative and cultural sectors.
Creative Business and the Digital Economy –
Researching and developing new business models for the creative industries working as part of the digital economy.

Meet the team:

Maziah Omar
Artistic Director
Maziah Omar, Itik Ku’s Artistic Director from Perlis, Malaysia, was trained as a dancer in Malaysia and was given an ASEAN Postgraduate Scholarship to study choreography in Indonesia. She also has an MA in Choreography from Middlesex University in the UK. She was a dancer and choreographer with the Malaysian National Theatre for fourteen years and then worked for Kuala Lumpur City Council and set up the Petronas Cultural Unit before heading her own performing arts company. She has been director and choreographer of numerous performances around the world on stage and television and was the choreographer for the 1998 Commonwealth Games welcoming ceremony in Kuala Lumpur as well as the first item at the opening of the 2002 Games in Manchester. She was also a member of Nada Budaya, a highly popular music group who performed on stage and television around Southeast Asia
in the 70’s and 80’s.

Alan Humberstone
Creative Producer
Alan Humberstone set up Itik Ku with Maziah Omar following their return from Malaysia. He has a degree in Fine Art and a Masters in Arts Management as well as professional qualifications in Marketing. He has worked at a senior level in UK Government Arts Funding Bodies, as an Advisor to the Department of Culture, Media and Sport and Associate Dean at a University School of Art, Design and Performing Arts before becoming Chief Executive of the UK Arts and Entertainment Training Council. He had visited Malaysia and much of Southeast Asia professionally before moving to Malaysia to work on the design and construction of the National Art Gallery. He came back to the UK in 1999 to be Project Director for the first major public sculpture commission by Sir Anish Kapoor in the UK within a new outdoor public area as part of a major redevelopment of Nottingham Playhouse. As well as working with Itik Ku, he continues to work as a cultural sector consultant specialising in organisational development and research with many nationally important organisations using cultural programmes to deliver innovative solutions to social and economic regeneration.

Jean A Muis

Graphic Designer
Jean Ardhita Muis is currently undertaking her postgraduate study in Design for Art Direction at London College of Communication. Jean’s creative disciplines including graphic design, photography and art direction. Born and raised in Indonesia, when she moved to the UK — it becomes her personal goal to be involved in cultural projects which celebrates south-east Asian culture. She has designed for several cultural projects including Indonesian Festival in Nottingham. She is currently working as a graphic designer and administrator for Kayu Gangsa and Itik Ku Productions.
